Every organization on the globe that manages or utilizes an IT infrastructure is facing the same problem; an increasing level of technical complexity matched with a parallel surge in customer expectations. Either of the challenges on their own would prove daunting, but faced together they all too often become overwhelming. The people charged with meeting this challenge are sometimes referred to as the Program Management Office or PMO. The PMO integrates IT-related projects, portfolios and programs; but who integrates the PMO ? PMO's utilize a variety of processes including Design, Requirements Management, Risk Management, Change Management just to name a few. Until recently, few or no PMO's were able to deploy unified methodologies that tied these processes and their related data together in an automated fashion. The next generation of "ePMOs" however, are being built upon "Semantic Foundations" using one key process as the enterprise DNA to link all portions of the typical solution lifecycle together - that DNA is requirements.
