Corporate Leadership

Being a small company, we don’t stand on formalities. We do believe though that character and integrity are vital to the day to day routine of our company. The consultants who founded the company are personally vested in each and every engagement we manage. Regardless of how many engagements Semantech handles, we pledge that our leadership will take ownership for each and every one. Our clients are welcome to contact us anytime with concerns, questions, comments or suggestions.

We believe corporate leadership is about more than operational management, business development or project management; it’s about setting a path and fulfilling a vision. We’re not just in business for profit, we believe in what we’re doing and in helping our clients. We want to make a difference for you and we instill our ethic into every effort we undertake. All of our consultants are oriented based on this philosophy as well.

We firmly believe that leadership plays a more vital role than size in helping to gauge the potential performance of a solutions provider. There are several multi-billion dollar systems integrators in this market but can they provide true leadership to your project; will they even recognize it as more than a tiny blip on their radar screen? We are a small company and intend to stay relatively small, partially because we never want to face the situation where we become so large that leadership cannot maintain a personal vested relationship with what the company is actually providing.

Thought Leadership

What exactly is Thought Leadership, and why is it desirable to have company dedicated to pursuing it working for you? For Semantech, Thought Leadership is our primary method of differentiation from larger and more established systems integrators. We simply do not wish to follow in their footsteps; one because we don’t think most solutions have lived up to their potential and two, because we have a clear vision of how we can introduce innovations that will change those outcomes.

It is a fact of life that the larger an organization is, the more likely it is that the thinking will be become rigid and the solutions standardized. What’s lost in that approach? Well, if the solutions are not particularly effective, then they are locked in at that performance level with little likelihood of improvement. Innovation does not occur when thinking becomes rigid, in fact in these environments it is generally discouraged.

Many of you are probably familiar with the term ‘Groupthink.’ Groupthink refers to the situation where widespread consensus occurs without any critical review and concepts are adopted along a reporting chain with little or no room for dissent. It sounds rather totalitarian but in fact it can happen naturally in an organizational culture with little or no active restrictions or direction to that effect from management.

Again, this is a common occurrence in many large organizations and is particularly damaging to IT related endeavors. IT, more than other professional activity requires the ability to employ critical thinking to achieve problem solving results. IT problem solving is an evolutionary process, it never goes away, it never gets easier and it continues to grow in complexity at an exponential rate. Employing providers who have abdicated their responsibility to constantly exercise their intellects in the pursuit of their profession is one of the most likely causes for service level and project failure.

Semantech can help break the cycle of Groupthink by interjecting our Thought Leadership into your organization and by helping to establish a long term atmosphere for critical thought across all of your IT related efforts. We accomplish this by continuously engaging with industry to help define and evolve emerging solutions and practices. These insights and innovations are then embedded directly into our projects and then vetted again within the larger IT community. We’re not interested in recreating what partially worked 4 years ago; we’re pursuing solutions for the next 5 years that really work.
